I chose Whatsapp android IM app for this experiment and it worked. Ok let me break it down for you:
Whatsapp (a chat app for smartphones founded in 2009) . In 2013, whatsapp is the most papular platform for Instant Chatting. It allows you to exchange your
videos, Pictures, Sound Clips etc with your friends or relatives. This app is available on almost many
Platforms i.e Android, iPhone, Blackberry, Windows
Phone and Nokia Symbian mobiles. This app is almost
free for one year.
Now, come to the main point for how we use it on our pc and laptop. There is a software named  "BlueStacks" available. which allows to use all android apps on pc free of cost. It requires a good Internet connection to send or receive messages.

2. High Graphic Card
3. Ram upto 2 gb
4. Windows XP or higher version.

How to install Whatsapp on pc or laptop
1. First of all you need to download and Install
Bluestacks on your PC
Download Links :- BlueStacks Download for old
version :- Download here

2. After Installing It, Open Bluestacks application on
your PC.

3. Now click on the Search Button at right corner of
window as shown in the Below Image.

4. Type " Whatsapp" in the search box and hit search
button.

5. After showing results click on Install button and the
whatsapp aplication will start downloading.

6. Afer Install the app. click on it, it will ask you to
verify your Mobile number.

7. Enter your Mobile number which one you want to use
on whatsapp, then whatsapp send you a verification
code for enquiry of your number.

8. Now your profile is activated and ready to use.
That's all , add your whatsapp name, Picture and
status as you like
